Haley Herzog (WLNS) – Lansing mayor Virg Bernero and East Lansing mayor Nathan Triplett are joining the Lansing Board of Water and Light to announce two new solar parks in an effort to continue to sustain mid-Michigan.
The parks are being built as a way for BWL electric customers to enjoy the benefits of solar power energy without having to install panels on their own homes.
BWL hasn’t announced what the parks will include, or where exactly they will be located, but they have said one of the parks will replace an old landfill.
The announcement will start at noon today at Burcham Park on the corner of Burcham and Park Lake Roads in East Lansing.
This is not the first step by BWL to implement solar power in the community, not too long ago they unveiled an energy generating picnic table in Lansing City Park where people can charge their phones.
