MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI. (WLNS) – The Meridian Township board has something a bit brighter on its agenda.
Members will consider whether to spend about $2,000 on a community solar panel project. A resolution before the board would allow the township to participate in the BWL Community Solar Project by approving a lease to buy five solar panels.
Those panels would produce enough power to replace 24,000 pounds of coal over 25 years. Officials would install them at the re-purposed landfill at Burcham Park.
More solar panels are planned for the township in the future at that location and a second site south of Benjamin Davis Park.
